How to Remove Objects From Photos on Your Phone
Learn when AI object removal works, how to mark the right area, and how to write prompts that keep the photo realistic.
Object removal is one of the most useful AI photo editing jobs. A good cleanup can save a product photo, a travel shot, or a social post that is almost right except for one distracting thing.
Start with the exact distraction
Do not mark the entire background if only one object needs to disappear. Circle the object and a small amount of the surrounding area so the editor can infer what should replace it.
Prompt examples
Short prompts are often enough when the goal is removal, but the prompt should still tell the app what to preserve.
- Remove the trash can and keep the sidewalk natural.
- Erase the cable and fill the wall with matching paint texture.
- Remove the person in the background, keep the beach and lighting realistic.
- Clean up the table clutter, keep the product untouched.
When removal gets tricky
Complex backgrounds, reflections, transparent objects, and overlapping people can require a second pass. If the first result changes too much, use a tighter circle and a prompt that says what must stay unchanged.
